What are your thoughts on Gotham's fifth season?
A mixed bag, as expected. But I was surprised that not more main players died because I was so certain they'd pull at least one ~heroic death in the penultimate episode. A bit sad that the series finale was so bland and boring, this show should have gone out with guns blazing.
Any particular highlights or disappointments?
Highlights:
- Lee/Babs bonding (the wheelchair chase!)
- Edward the the Dog
- Zsasz in 5x04 (that Alvarez crack in particular)
- Oswald and Selina
Disappointments:
- Tabitha's death
- Nyssa
- Ed the Dog's ending

Do you have thoughts on the show as a whole?
A lot of very talented, attractive people in the cast and crew! Loved the aesthetic, the camp, and the unapologetic violence.
Any missed opportunities?
- A love interest for Oswald. Hell, I'd totally bought Oswald/Penn if they had gone down that road.
- More female friendships. I really wanted more Sirens in s4. Fuck all the R'as bullshit.

- More friendships/alliances for Lee. Seems weird that she only ever had Kristen and even her friend Ed turned -- unnecessarily, I might add -- into her lover. There was also not enough Lee/Grundy friendship in s4.
- Bring Martín back. The time jump gave the best opportunity for that.

Which season/episode/plot did you enjoy/hate the most?
My favorite season is probably the first one. IMO, it was the most solid, tightly-written season of the show. Also liked season 4 because it made Lee my ultimate fave. She was just so fun there! <333
I think I hated season 3 the most. Reasons: The awful writing for Lee including the awful Jim/Lee/Mario love triangle, the super boring storylines for both Jim and Bruce (Court of Owls, R'as al Ghul), and the completely nonsensical, cruel way in which they broke up the Oswald/Ed friendship.
Couldn't name one episode I enjoyed the most, but I remember really liking 3x15 for the Ed/Lucius duo. It generally was a great episode for both characters. 4x15 was also great fun with the Os/Ed/Lee shenanigans. Also, of course, for the shootout with Jim, Harv, Zsasz, and Headhunter.
Episodes I disliked? 4x19. I hated how Ed mansplained Lee's own feelings to her. That scene single-handedly destroyed any potential that Lee/Ed could have had in my eyes. I also never understood why the Ed/Riddler dialogue scene about Riddler not falling for Lee was included in the episode as it makes no sense with what happens later on. Don't have much fondness for 5x12 as well for all the reasons I already elaborated on in the respective discussion thread.
Plots I liked: The majority of the mafia stuff in the early seasons, Oswald and Ed becoming friends,
Plots I hated: Lee's miscarriage and Jim's related man pain, Jim's romantic rivalry with Mario, everything connected with R'as al Ghul, Isabella, Galavan 2.0, Jim banging Sofia,

Who are your favorite characters and how did you like their development?
Jim: I consider the main crime of s4 to be Jim's character assassination. The fact that the show never held him accountable for anything he did, ended up robbing him of any moral credibility and integrity he might have had otherwise. That said, great hair, beautiful hair!
Oswald: Didn't particularly like any of his character arcs after the second season. It was always the same pattern: Put him in a position of power at the start of the season, then knock him down a peg towards the midseason finale, then have him crawl his way back up the ladder. The problem with this is that Oswald never evolved in his schemes and always repeated the same stupid mistakes. Not to mention how he always conveniently, frustratingly got dumbed down for plot reasons.
Lee: I wish she would have been more than Jim Gordon's love interest this season. Missed s4!Lee. :(
Babs: I wish she would have gotten time to properly mourn Tabitha and maybe even a scene to reflect on how the loss of Tabitha might have been a factor in her keeping the baby despite the circumstances. Otherwise, as already said in another post, I'm immensely glad she got her own happy ending.

Who are your favorite actors? Can you think of some of your favorite performances on the show?
Obviously the actors of the characters already named above. Also, naturally, DL whose Harvey deserved a lot more time to shine in the last two seasons. And CMS, who, despite me utterly despising the entire Ed/Kringle plot, somehow still managed to win me over to Team Ed. CC for portraying Lucius as the GQMF he is.

Shout-out to some people who I think don't get enough love:
- PL as Ivy. While I don't think that new!Ivy's characterization does the character any favors (first isolating her, then giving her no resolution), I always thought PL sold her really well.
- DP as Butch, particularly in the early seasons. The man also wears a suit like a champ.
- MC as Barnes. Loved his character pre-Tetch-virus. Wasn't used as well after that.

Any moments that cracked your shit up, that had you on the edge of your seat, that made you facepalm hard?
Cracks my shit up: Jim Gordon's unintentionally goofy faces. I say that with fondness. Zsasz, obviously. Babs and Oswald's snark. Ed's suggestive gestures. Olga. Oswald carrying/kissing/making kissy faces at Ed the Dog.
On the edge of my seat: The Haven bomb ending in 5x03, the midseason finales of season 3 and 4, the Maroni business
Facepalm: Jim/Sofia, Ed/Lee

Last but not least: Are you up for a much-needed rewatch? ;)
Guess I have to figure out a way to watch the pilot because my DVD player, for whatever stupid reason, is unable to play that episode. (I've tested it on other players. Worked there. :()
